The Sami People of Alaska and Sami-Walking with Reindeer Exhibit Openings

Sami Reindeer American Swedish Historical Museum
date(s)
time
12pm-4pm

Be sure to attend the opening of these unique exhibits highlighting Sami culture. Representatives from the Sami Cultural Center of North America will present a lecture and Sami Joik musical performance. This day of cultural learning will also include live reindeer, a chance to experience an indoor aurora borealis, samples of traditional Sami recipes prepared by Chef Henrik, and family activities. All activities are included with regular admission and pre-registration is not required.

Please note:

Due to the beautiful and warm weather forecast for tomorrow, our reindeer friends will unfortunately not be able to join us at the exhibit opening. They have not yet shed their winter fur, and it is not safe for them to travel in, or be in the heat.

We will still have opportunities to learn about reindeer, including a virtual reality trip to the north with National Geographic, as well as an interactive education table. All other activities will continue as previously advertised. We hope you will join us tomorrow!
