Kalm-Seaborg Room
| The exhibitions here feature Swedish decorative arts in ceramics, glass and wood. |
|

The Fredrika Bremer Room
| The room is devoted to the accomplishments of Swedish women and named for Fredrika Bremer (1801-1865), a Swedish novelist and advocate for women's rights. The exhibit cases describe Bremer's journey to America in 1850. Another exhibit also interprets the life of Nobel Prize-winning author Selma Lagerlöf (1858-1940). |
|

The Jenny Lind Room
|
This room features Swedish operatic singer Jenny Lind (1820-1887) and the lasting effects of her widespread popularity during her American tour in 1850. Works by Carl Larsson and Anders Zorn, two of Sweden's best known artists, are also exhibited. |

The Chicago Room
|
The highlight of the gallery is a wood inlay mural featuring the 1930s Chicago skyline
and honoring the contributions to America of Swedish architects and builders. The exhibition
also features the Museum's collection of Swedish silver.
|

The John Ericsson Room
| The art deco interior of this gallery was inspired by ocean liner designs of the 1930s. The wall mural shows John Ericsson presenting his design for the ironclad Monitor to Abraham Lincoln's War Cabinet as well as the battle between the Monitor and the Merrimac. Ericsson neither met Lincoln nor made a presentation to the cabinet. |
