Planned Giving |
||
What is the best planned gift for me? Once the purpose of the gift has been determined, then the practical aspects - the assets to be used, the financial benefits to be emphasized, the documentation of the gift's purposes - can be worked out with you and your advisors. How can the ASHM help me? The American Swedish Historical Museum is happy to help donors evaluate their giving options and consider their opportunities. Through information from the ASHM, we help you make efficient use of the counsel of your advisors. The ASHM does all it can to assure that donors are properly thanked and recognized, in the present, for plans leading to future gifts. I give to the American Swedish Historical Museum, the sum of $_____ (or, ____ percentage of my estate). The full value of a bequest is deductible for federal estate tax purposes, and there is no limit to the size of a bequest. |

Matching gifts can double or even triple your gift to the American Swedish Historical Museum...without increasing your own obligation! Check with your company to see if it offers corporate matching. If it does, you can maximize your contribution and increase the impact of your gift. For example, if your company matches one for one, for a donation of $50, the museum would receive $100. That would also have you recognized in the Silver Circle instead of the Friends Circle!
A matching gift by your company or organization extends your generosity by adding a match amount to your own gift, at no additional expense to you. Nationwide, more than 3000 companies, foundations and institutions offer gift-match programs. The impact is significant. If you have already made a gift to the ASHM or are about to make one, please check with your and/or your spouse's employer's human resources department to see if it has a corporate matching gift program. Don't forget, too, that many employers will match the gifts of their non-employee directors, retired employees, and the spouses, widows, or widowers of retired employees. |
