The American Swedish Historical Museum (ASHM) is thrilled to be part of the Philadelphia Flower Show again this year! This year's Flower Show theme is In Full Bloom and will take place June 11-19. If you didn't know, admission to ASHM is included in your Flower Show ticket. You can learn more about the Flower Show and purchase tickets here: phsonline.org. We are excited to share all the ways we are involved in the Flower Show this year and the impact on visitation during this time.
Visitor Impact Dates
- May 23 - June 5 ASHM parking will be moved to the Naval Hospital Lot across Pattison Ave.
- June 6 - 9 ASHM will be closed to the public for Flower Show set up
- June 10 - 19 ASHM will be open to Flower Show ticket holders only.
- June 20 - 23 ASHM will be closed to the public for Flower Show takedown.
*Reminder that ASHM members qualify for special early entry to the Flower Show from 9-10 am with the purchase of a Flower Show ticket. Just show your ASHM Member card at the Flower Show entrance for members-only early access.
On View at ASHM
Several Flower Show exhibitions will be featured on two floors in our building. Some of the works on display will be inspired by Swedish themes like crayfish parties and gummy candies!
Exhibits include:
- Pressed Plants
- The Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators
- Botanical Jewelry
- Fresh and Dried Floral Arrangements
Christina's Cafe
You definitely won't want to miss Christina's Café, by Jeffrey Miller Catering, located on the Museum Terrace. The menu includes modern Swedish cuisine, featuring an assortment of smörgås (sandwiches) on house-made JAM rye bread as well as Swedish cookies and pastries. The café will also offer a few non-Swedish JAM favorite salads and snacks to round out the menu.
The café will be open daily from June 11-17; 10 am – 7 pm. It will close early on Thursday June 16th at 3 pm.
Events
This year ASHM will be participating in the Family Frolic on Sunday, June 19th from 10am - 3pm. Visit with your family to make tissue-paper flower crowns or play in our Pippi room. Family Frolic programming is free with a Flower Show ticket. Learn more about activities here.
Museum Gift Shop
The Museum's Gift Shop has several new merchandise lines for this year's Flower Show, including bags and hats from Fjällräven, LEGO botanical sets, and Swedish provincial flower stationery. We also have a new line of products featuring artist Cindy Lindgren's drawing of ASHM's building, including a magnet, sticker, postcard, notecard, print, and even a stainless steel Tervis water bottle!
