Did you know that since the Middle Ages, Swedish brides sometimes wear bridal crowns? 👑

The crown came to symbolize virginity, and severe penalties awaited those who wore the crown undeserved. The crowns were made out of metals like gold, brass, and silver, like our crown. Myrtle wreaths became popular additions to bridal crowns in the late 19th century when white wedding gowns were introduced. Swedish churches often own a wedding crown that may be used by the bride, even though the traditional crown is not as popular nowadays. This crown was made by the Swedish silversmith Sölve Hallqvist for his bride in 1952.
