The seal is made of bronze and steal and was made in the 1600s in Sweden. The inscription reads, ‘’Christina Stora Sjötulls Cammares Sigill’’ (Christina Large Duty Chamber Seal), indicating that this official stamp was used to approve customs.
Christina was born in 1626 and died in 1689. She was a member of the House of Vasa, and the Queen of Sweden in her own right from 1632 until her abdication in 1654. The Swedish queen is remembered as one of the most erudite women of the 17th century. She was fond of books, manuscripts, paintings, and sculptures and was interested in religion, philosophy, mathematics, and alchemy.
