Spend a gorgeous summer evening at the American Swedish Historical Museum in FDR Park enjoying regional and international beers alongside a Swedish-inspired dinner buffet!

SmörgåsBeer party-goers can play trivia and lawn games as well as a traditional Swedish “tipsrunda” or quiz walk through the museum. There is no better way to pass a summer evening than tasting new beers, ciders and more, challenging friends to unique games, and dancing the night away to great music. Amazing prizes will also be raffled throughout the evening to support the museum.

Spring Ting

Join us at the Spring Ting Dinner and Auction to celebrate our 2024 Outstanding Achievement Award Honoree, chef Ulrika Bengtsson. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and a three-course dinner by Jeffery A. Miller Catering.

Midsommarfest

Please join us on Saturday, June 22nd at 4 pm to hoist the maypole, dance in celebration, and eat smörgåstårta! Admission to the event includes traditional folk music by the Last Chance duo, family activities, and full access to the Museum. Food and flower crowns will be available for purchase.

Craft Night Out: Flower Arranging

Get ready for a fun night out! 

Kristin Pickell of Pickells and Posies will lead a guided class on how to make your floral arrangements pop. The event includes a guided tour of our Swedish Folk Weavings exhibition for floral inspiration, a vase and all materials, and a Scandinavian dessert charcuterie board!

Earth Day Free Family Day

Join us for a Free Family Day! In collaboration with FDR Park and the Dandelion Project, we will have family-friendly activities and crafts inside and outside of the Museum to help us take  care of the Earth! Programs include paper making and solar printing workshops, a pollinator identification activity, wildflower planting, recycled material building, and more.

Walk-ins are welcome but help us plan with your RSVP.

Exhibition Preview: Swedish Folk Weavings for Marriage, Carriage, and Home 1750-1840

This exhibition features rare, historical, and artful carriage cushions, chair cushions, and bed covers woven by or for women for their dowries or households. Dating between 1750 and 1840, these textiles reflect the influence of trade and depict everything from exotic birds to Roman mosaics.

The exhibition preview is free to the public with light refreshments served.
