Children who visit the museum love to see our larger than life wooden Dala horse sculpture! This month at Toddler Time, kids will learn why the Dala horse is an iconic symbol of Sweden. Listen to a story, go on a Dala horse hunt through the galleries, and even paint your own Dala horse!

Join us for a free Craft Fair and Family Day at the American Swedish Historical Museum!

Inspired by the textiles of the new Swedish Folk Weavings exhibition, vendors will demonstrate and sell their handcrafts of all kinds. Bring your family and try out different textile crafts like cross-stitch and weaving through fun activities in our galleries. Light lunch fare, snacks, and baked goods will also be available for purchase. 

Are you a crafter/maker or do you know someone who is? The American Swedish Historical Museum invites those who would like to demonstrate or sell their hemslöjd, or handmade, crafts at our July 14th Craft Fair and Demonstration Day!

The event will take place on Sunday, July 14th from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. when the museum is open to the public on our monthly Free Second Sunday date. The event will feature crafts, family activities, and food. 

Spend a gorgeous summer evening at the American Swedish Historical Museum in FDR Park enjoying regional and international beers alongside a Swedish-inspired dinner buffet!

SmörgåsBeer party-goers can play trivia and lawn games as well as a traditional Swedish “tipsrunda” or quiz walk through the museum. There is no better way to pass a summer evening than tasting new beers, ciders and more, challenging friends to unique games, and dancing the night away to great music. Amazing prizes will also be raffled throughout the evening to support the museum.
