This workshop for kids 8-18 will introduce families to fun Scandinavian-inspired crafts. Kids will paint Dala horse magnets and tour Museum galleries to learn about their history. Space is limited. Tickets are $5 for member children and $10 for non-member children. Accompanying adults are welcome to make the craft as well for $10.
Treat yourself to a rich semla (a cream and almond paste-filled Swedish pastry) with a cup of hot coffee and a Swedish movie. Semlor are often eaten before lent, the Swedish version of “Fat Tuesday.” Event tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door. Ticket price includes one semla- additional semlor are $6 each. Pre-registration closes on 2/10 at 4 pm but walk-ins are welcome at the event on 2/11!
The perfect way to shake off the cold is with a hot bowl of Swedish pea soup at the American Swedish Historical Museum. Ärtsoppa is the traditional Thursday night supper in Sweden during the winter that dates back to the medieval period.
The ASHM Pea Soup Dinner is served with sharp Swedish cheese, crispbread, and Swedish pancakes for dessert with coffee. Cash bar available throughout the evening. You do not want to miss this delightful meal!
Experience the wonderful world of fiber arts! This month at Toddler Time, families will explore our exhibition, Weaving A New Chapter, and learn about the meaningful textiles immigrant families brought from Sweden. We will read “Wild Rose’s Weaving” by Ginger Churchill and practice fine motor skills with our weaving activities.

Reverend Dr. Kim-Eric Williams will give a talk on the story behind the publication of the nine-volume set Colonial Records of Swedish Churches in Pennsylvania. Afterward, club members can discuss and share their resource sources and utilize the Nord Library for further research.
Start your Christmas celebrations by indulging in a Swedish holiday smörgåsbord prepared by Jeffrey A. Miller Catering. Your favorites will be a spread to remember, including the Christmas ham, herrings, meatballs, salads, and bread. A selection of ASHM Christmas Market vendors will be open from 5-7 pm, so you can shop while you enjoy a drink and some hors d'oeuvres before dinner. Get cozy at ASHM with our special Museum & Glögg Tour! Join us for our general gallery tour and learn about Scandinavian holiday traditions. Then enjoy some glögg and Swedish pepparkaka between the tours. We are offering two tour time slots at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The glögg reception will be at 5:00 pm, either after or before your tour. $5 for members and $15 for non-members.

Don’t miss this unique magical holiday experience! The outdoor Christmas Market includes your favorite holiday deli items, Christmas decorations and gifts, and SWEA bakery treats. The Swedish Christmas Café will sell holiday foods and sweets for refreshment. Enjoy daily Lucia processions at 11:30 am and 2:00 pm. Last Chance duo will provide live holiday music throughout the day.
