This exhibition explores the important legacy of turn-of-the-century Swedish immigrant cabinetmaker, Olof Althin, within the field of American decorative arts. Curators, Erica Lome and Trevor Brandt, will present new research into immigrant craftsmen networks and their impact on an emerging American style in the decorative arts. A tour and Q&A session will be presented both in-person and virtually over Zoom, followed by an onsite reception. This event is free for members of the Decorative Arts Trust and the American Swedish Historical Museum.

We will be weeding, planting and painting. Masks required. Bring gloves. Programming takes place at the Clubhouse.

This year the Philadelphia Flower Show will be taking place in FDR Park. During the Flower Show, ASHM will only be open to Flower Show attendees. ASHM members will have early access to the Flower Show with their purchase of a morning ticket. Furthermore, ASHM will have a vendor booth featuring Scandinavian products in the main Flower Show vendor area.

Hip-hop artist Jason “Timbuktu” Diakité and Chef & Restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson host the podcast “This Moment” that examine the fascinating current events through the lenses of their respective current countries (Sweden and USA), their deep roots in both places and the thoughtfulness of two of the world’s most respected creative artists in their fields. Together, along with their vast network of compelling global guests, they are able to uniquely capture This Moment for us all.
