Exhibit Opening: From Fairy Tale To Fantasy: The Art of Gustaf Tenggren

Join us for the opening of From Fairy Tale To Fantasy: The Art of Gustaf Tenggren. This is your chance to see original sketches and paintings of Snow White, Pinocchio, The Poky Little Puppy, and many more! Visitors will be asked to sign up for a gallery time-slot upon arrival and will be allowed entry every half hour to get an up close and personal look at these amazing illustrations.

From Fairy Tale to Fantasy: The Art of Gustaf Tenggren

You are probably familiar with Gustaf Tenggren’s art without even knowing his name. This exhibit charts Tenggren’s career in the United States—from his early successes in New York to his time at Walt Disney Studios and eventual retirement in Maine.

Tenggren’s art is magical, atmospheric, moody, and enchanting. Such qualities endeared the young artist to Nordic publishers in the early 1900s for children’s books such as “Among Gnomes and Trolls” or the tales of the Brothers Grimm.

Around the World: The Global Curiosities of Carl Otto Lindberg

Around the World: The Global Curiosities of Carl Otto Lindberg explores the life of a Swedish-American mining engineer. Born near Stockholm, Carl Otto Lindberg (1879 - 1960) immigrated to the United States as a young man, after attending the Royal Swedish War Academy. After graduating from the Michigan College of Mines in 1906, he entered the mining business. Lindberg spent the height of his career as the head of the Gold Fields American Development Company.

Join ASHM virtually for the opening of Around the World: The Global Curiosities of Carl Otto Lindberg! This exhibit presents the exotic collection of a Swedish-American who sailed around the globe in the early 1900s, opening mines and developing American strategic resources. Last Chance Tour with Trevor

ASHM Curator Trevor Brandt is headed on to new challenges in Chicago to earn his Ph.D at the end of September. Because the last few months at ASHM have been unprecedented and we were unable to offer frequent tours, Trevor is leading three tour groups through the permanent galleries before his departure. Take this chance to say goodbye!

Tickets are $15 per person, pre-registration is required.
