“The Park, the Prince, and the Plan” Virtual Talk with Thomas Keels
Historian and author Tom Keels explores the history of FDR Park in this illustrated lecture. League Island Park transformed the swamps of South Philadelphia into a natural wonder designed by the Olmsted Brothers. In the 1920s, it was the site of the ill-fated Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition, where Swedish Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf laid the cornerstone for the American Swedish Historical Museum. Today, a Master Plan is being launched to give FDR Park a new lease on life!
