Join us for this new program, Plogging in FDR Park! We are excited to partner with the FDR Park staff to help keep our park beautiful. Plogging is a Swedish craze in which you pick up trash while exercising. Come along to help us clean up FDR Park and get in a jog, all ages welcome! This event is free to attend but please register below.
The traditional Danish Kransekage is a showstopping dessert for sure! This multitiered cake is often reserved for milestone birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries. Danish baker Torben Christiansen will demonstrate how best to prepare and assemble celebration confection while sharing cultural connections. The demonstration will be held over Zoom. Registration required, $10 for ASHM and Danish Lodge members, $15 for nonmembers.

ASHM members are welcome to join us for our annual meeting either in-person or over Zoom, where we will present this year’s Amandus Johnson Volunteer Service Award to Brigitta Davis. Remarks will be given by the new Honorary Consul, Laruen Swartz. Onsite attendees will also get to view the new Fika! The Art of the Swedish Coffee Ritual exhibit and sample delicious Swedish desserts during an afternoon fika experience! Registration required.
ASHM is proud to participate again in WAWA Welcome's America Free Museum Day. ASHM will be open to the public on Tuesday June 29th from 10:00am- 4:00pm with Free Admission to all visitors.

Enjoy a summer evening on the Museum terrace while indulging in Swedish favorites including dill seasoned crayfish, Swedish meatballs, fingerling potatoes, Swedish cheese pie, an assortment of salads, crispbread and cheese, and seasonal desserts. ASHM is excited to partner with PHS for this year’s Philadelphia Flower Show! For the first time in the show’s history it will be outdoors in FDR Park with a few exhibits in ASHM galleries. With this large-scale event happening in our building there will be some changes in access before and during the show. Historian and author Tom Keels explores the history of FDR Park in this illustrated lecture. League Island Park transformed the swamps of South Philadelphia into a natural wonder designed by the Olmsted Brothers. In the 1920s, it was the site of the ill-fated Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition, where Swedish Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf laid the cornerstone for the American Swedish Historical Museum. Today, a Master Plan is being launched to give FDR Park a new lease on life!

Brew Masters and representatives from select companies will discuss their brands, flavors, and inspiration in real time as you sample.
